Shipyard History

CRN, established in Ancona in 1963, is an abbreviation for “Costruzioni e Riparazioni Navali”. Boasting a long-standing reputation for crafting large luxury yachts, primarily amongst Greek and Middle Eastern royal clients in the 1980s, CRN has become a leader in the steel and aluminium industry. The company's first over-60m creation, Il Vagabondo, was launched in 1986, followed one year later by the 68-metre Awal. At the turn of the century, following an acquisition by the Ferretti Group, CRN diversified their production with the introduction of composite materials, which allowed them to produce up to 15 superyachts annually and expand their production space.

In 2010, CRN achieved a remarkable feat when they launched the 236-foot (72-meter) Azteca, breaking their own records. They repeated this success in 2013 with the launch of the 262-foot (80-meter) Chopi Chopi, still the largest CRN-built superyacht to date. The yard’s numerous accomplishments, coupled with their highly sought-after launches, have earned CRN an illustrious reputation in the charter and sales market. Seeking to adhere to their owners’ every specification, CRN sees it as their duty to honor these requests, collaborating with elite designers each time they forge a new construction. Out of the 2000-2010 period, during which CRN saw a shift in their production model with the introduction of semi-custom composite and steel range, the Italian shipyard CRN has always been a master in constructing full-custom superyachts. CRN Ancona focuses their luxury yacht building projects from 49m to 80m, making use of steel and aluminium construction. The high-end branch of the Ferretti Group delivers 3 and 4 decks full-displacement superyachts. Each fully custom-made CRN-built superyacht is unique, since every unit has been externally and internally designed by various renowned architects within the yachting industry. CRN's clients have full control over their project building process, from the initial sketches to final delivery.
