Based in Seattle, Delta is a family-owned yard that prides itself on producing high-class luxury yachts. Founded in 1968, the company has established itself as a premier builder of custom yachts. Delta Marine’s roots are in building hardy commercial vessels capable of taking on any seas. The story of Delta Marine begins with the visionary entrepreneur, J. Howard Sheldon. With a passion for boating and an eye for innovation, Sheldon set out to create a shipyard that would redefine the standards of yacht construction. In its early years, Delta Marine focused on building commercial vessels and military boats, honing their skills in construction and engineering. However, it was in the 1980s that the shipyard transitioned into luxury yacht building.

The largest Delta Marine built yacht is 73m Laurel, completed in 2006. In the years 2010s, the American shipyard delivered notable yachts that have captured the attention of yacht enthusiasts worldwide, including the 72m Albatross, 65m Invictus and 63m Satori.
The most recent motor yacht completed by the Seattle-based shipyard is the 46m motor superyacht Artic Pride II commissioned by an American client who took delivery in 2020.
Design collaborations on models and projects
Delta Marine is known for its advanced design capabilities, with a large in-house engineering and design team, the ‘Delta Design Group’. Operating out of state-of-the-art facilities, the team work closely with the yard’s build teams and clients to create high-quality custom builds. Delta Marine also collaborates with with outside design teams.
The Delta Design Group, has contributed immensely to the success of various projects including 73m Laurel, 65m Invictus, 63m Satori, 47m Rochade or 40m Onika. These vessels are known for their integration of design and engineering, their interior layouts, careful attention to detail and impressive finishes.
Delta Marine has collaborated with the acclaimed yacht designer Jonathan Quinn Barnett on multiple projects. Barnett's signature sleek and elegant designs have graced the exteriors of several Delta Marine motor yachts, including 53m MLR, 46m Pisces or 38m Ruffian. His creative vision and attention to detail have played a pivotal role in shaping the distinct profiles.
Delta Marine also worked closely with the acclaimed Norwegian designer Espen Øino on the 72m superyacht Albatross completed in 2016. Øino's design expertise and ability to combine elegance with functionality were instrumental in shaping Albatross' exterior profile.
