Established in 1825 by Giovanni Battista Codecasa, the Codecasa Shipyards has been a family-owned business for 175 years. Specialising in the construction of aluminium alloy or steel and aluminium alloy yachts up to 70m, the brand is renowned for its luxury motor yachts. The Codecasa team consists of an in-house design team, providing tailor-made yachts with unique external and internal lines. The reputation of Codecasa has earned it a prominent position in the sales and charter market.
The Codecasa team works in collaboration with the best design houses and their clients to construct high-end, modern yachts, such as fast, semi-displacement and displacement vessels. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology, they ensure optimal performance credentials and unparalleled craftsmanship. Drawing on its years-long experience, dedicated management, and highly skilled personnel, they strive to make each and every Codecasa yacht a one-of-a-kind creation. Their widespread selection of models combined with the ability to develop custom projects enable them to cater to a wide array of needs.
Codecasa is a leader in the designing and building of quality motor yachts, ranging from 30 to 70m. Specialising in steel and aluminium craft, the yard has been producing custom and semi-custom projects since 1973. With three building sites in Viareggio and Pisa, Codecasa has a proven track record in creating both fast open yachts and full-displacement tri-deck superyachts that are tailored to the individual needs of its customers. These works of art, boasting carefully crafted details and modern yacht interiors, are highly sought after and respected in the brokerage market.
Notable deliveries and models
Codecasa is known for building full-custom projects but the shipyard has recently diversified its range of models to include fast planing yachts and more traditional displacement vessels. In 2000, they introduced the all-aluminum fast open yacht models 41S (Flying Dagger and Family Day) and 45S (Tenshi), as well as the highly successful 50m tri-deck hull platform which has seen 10 units delivered to date, including Te Manu, Cyan, Invader, Mariu and Atlas. They then revealed the semi-custom Vintage Series in 2009, a 43m steel-hulled displacement yacht with a retro exterior design. Four of these have been delivered thus far, the first being Magari in 2011 and the most recent being Boji, completed in summer 2022. On a larger scale, Codecasa is also building speculative yachts exceeding 50m, the most recent of which are the 65m Regina d’Italia, 56m My Legacy and 55m Framura.
Codecasa has constructed some of the most renowned superyachts in the world, with its 65m Main, painted entirely black and delivered in 2008 to an eminent Italian fashion designer being its largest and most majestic creation thus far. Other notable Codecasa vessels include the 65m Double Down, 65m Apogee, 65m Eternity, 61m Esmeralda and 42m Aldebaran Primo.
Design collaborations on models and projects
Thanks to its highly qualified in-house team, and collaboration with naval designers, Codecasa is able to offer full custom projects to meet their clients' individual requirements. Their design identity is further strengthened as Andrea Bacigalupo has designed Codecasa 50m Bon Vivant and 42m Aldebaran Primo exteriors, while Della Role Design has contributed to its many projects. The Italian yard is currently busy with the construction of three new hulls: 57m Codecasa C.127 (2023), 43m Codecasa Vintage C.124 (2024) and 24m Gentleman’s Yacht designed by Luca Dini (2023).
